Fontanelle Closure Age

The size of the anterior fontanelle tends to vary predictably with age peaking around 2 months 2. The fontanelle in the back of the head posterior fontanelle most often closes by the time an infant is 1 to 2 months old. In contrast apes fuse the fontanelles soon after birth.
It will take between 12 to 18 months for the sutures to solidify here. The problem is often found in conjunction with hydrocephalus which is a condition in which too much. The fontanel can enlarge in the first few months of life 18 and the median age of closure is 13 8 months.
